In profound sorrow, the Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service join with the Ruffin, Smith, Jenkins and Morrisey families to announce Pastor Marlin Ray Morrisey of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, age 64, has completed his earthly journey. 

Pastor Morrisey transitioned from labor to reward Friday, May 7, 2021 at Nash UNC Health Care Center in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.  He was lovingly known by his family members and friends as “Marlie”. 

Marlin was born in Washington County, Washington, DC on October 19, 1956 to the late Mr. Raymond Morrisey, Jr. and the living Mrs. Sallie Smith Jenkins.

He received some of his education in the Prince George’s County Public School System in Maryland.

During Pastor Morrisey’s younger life, he met, dated and married the love of his life, the former Pastor Teresa Ruffin-Morrisey.

During Pastor Morrisey’s spiritual walk in life, he was a faithful member and founder of Peniel Prophetic Outreach Ministry, Rocky Mount, NC

During his working years, Pastor Morrisey was employed with a tobacco company and he retired after many years of dedicated service.  

Pastor Morrisey was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Raymond Morrisey, Jr.; his grandmother, Mrs. Helen Morrisey.

A special public viewing will be held Saturday, May 15, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 4:50 p.m. in the Wilson Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 513 East Barnes Street, Wilson, North Carolina 27893. 

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, May 15, 2021, at 5:00 p.m. in the Wilson Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 513 East Barnes Street, Wilson, North Carolina 27893. Pastor Teresa Ruffin Morrisey will officiate.  

Interment will follow at a later date in Pastor Morrisey’s birth District of Washington, DC.  

Pastor Morrisey leaves to cherish his sweet and loving memories to his beautiful wife, Pastor Teresa Ruffin Morrisey of the home; his step-son, Mr. Terrell Ruffin of the home; his daughter, Mrs. Raven Diggs and husband, Garren of Severn, Maryland; his grandsons, Master Garren Diggs, Jr. and Master Garson Diggs both of Severn, Maryland; his mother, Mrs. Sallie Jenkins of Dover, Delaware; his Mother-in-law, Mrs. Neillie Ruffin of Wilson, North Carolina; his Father-in-law, Mr. Willie R. Ruffin and wife Glenda of Rocky Mount, North Carolina; his sisters, Ms. Catherine “Cathy” Morrisey of Madison, Tennessee and Mrs.  Belinda “Renee” Morrisey-Baker of Dover, Delaware; his aunts, Mrs. Dorothy Beatty and Mrs. Agnes Potts both of Clinton, North Carolina; three sisters-in-law; five brothers-in-law; a special uncle, Mr. Tex Morrisey and wife, Carolyn, of Pinetops, North Carolina; a special cousin, Mr. Zachariah Morrisey of Pinetops, North Carolina; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Saturday, May 15, 2021, the family members and friends will assemble at Wilson Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 513 East Barnes Street, Wilson, North Carolina 27893 at 3:30 p.m. in preparation for the visitation and the Celebration of Life Service.
