Ms. Mary Ellen "Skeeter" Martin

Ms. Mary Ellen "Skeeter" Martin, age 69, lovingly known by her family members and friends as “Skeeter,” of 229 Miller Street, Goldsboro, North Carolina passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the Wayne UNC Health Care Center in Goldsboro, North Carolina.

“Skeeter” was born in Wayne County, North Carolina, on August 17, 1947 to the late Mr. Jesse Martin and Mrs. Jessie Smith-Martin.

She was educated in the Wayne County Public School System.

During “Skeeter’s” working years, she became a Nurses’ Assistant and worked at the Woodard Nursing Home in Goldsboro, North Carolina.

Mary was preceded in death by, her parents, Mr. Jesse Martin and Mrs. Jessie Smith-Martin.

Funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, July 1, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. from the Thompson Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 2393 North Beston Road, La Grange, NC. Elder Jacob R. Pickett will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Wayne Memorial Park Cemetery-North, 1191 Old Grantham Road, Goldsboro, NC.

Also, a public viewing will be held on Friday, June 30, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, NC with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Mrs. Mary Martin leaves to cherish her loving and precious memories to:  her daughter, Ursula "Geri" Martin  and husband, Joe Williams of Goldsboro, North Carolina; her brother, Jessie “Jackie” Martin; her sisters, Cynthia Smith and husband, Rod of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Carolyn Monroe and husband, Charles of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Pandora Cooper and husband, Robert of Dudley, North Carolina and Wanda Harris of Goldsboro, North Carolina her three grandchildren, Jasmine Amerson, Jamara Amerson and J’Nae Amerson; her great grandchild, Aiden Pratt; her aunt, Verlene Currie; her three uncles, Wallace Martin, Hearlon Martin and Ernest Martin and wife, Francine; her five nieces, Tabitha Clay and husband, Greg, Cyntoria Monroe, Jessica (Adrienne Miller) Smith, Bridgette Boseman and Chelle Boseman; her three nephews, Charles R. Monroe, Micah Cooper and Jalen Cooper; a host of cousins other relatives and friends.

At other times, the family will be receiving friends at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Rod Chester Smith, 229 Miller Street, Goldsboro, NC.

Flowers may be sent to Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, NC, beginning on Friday, June 30, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

On Saturday, July 1, 2017, the family members and friends will assemble at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Williams (Geri), 106 Avery Place, Goldsboro, NC at 9:50 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.
