Ms. Caula Ann Willis

The Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service join with the Willis Family to announce the passing of Ms. Caula Ann Willis, of Hookerton, North Carolina. She was lovingly known by her family members and friends as “Ma Ma Caula.”

Ms. Willis transitioned from labor to reward Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina, at the age of 55.

She was born in Wayne County, North County on October 7, 1963 to Mr. Theodore Willis and Mrs. Mildred Yelverton-Willis.  

Caula received her education in the Wayne County Public School System.  

She served her community by enlisting with the Law Enforcement Department in Greene County, North Carolina, as a Deputy Sheriff. 

After 25 years of service, Deputy Willis retired with honors. 

She was a member of Jumping Run Christian Academy Church in La Grange, North Carolina.  Deputy Willis served as the Church’s Security Officer. 

Ms. Willis was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Mr. Isaac Yelverton and Mrs. Rosa Mae Reid Yelverton; her aunt, Mrs. Rosa Lee Yelverton Sherrod of Bronx, New York.

A celebration of life service will be conducted on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in the Jumping Run Christian Academy Church, 4308 Jumping Run Church Road, La Grange, North Carolina 28551.  Bishop W. Anthony Lawson, Jr. will officiate.  

Interment will follow the celebration of life service in the Wayne Memorial Park Cemetery-North, 1191 Old Grantham Road, Goldsboro, North Carolina 27530. 

Also, a public viewing will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:50 a.m. in the Jumping Run Christian Academy Church, 4308 Jumping Run Church Road, La Grange, North Carolina 28551. 

Ms. Caula Willis leaves to cherish her loving and precious memories to her daughter, Valencia Willis of Winterville, North Carolina; her son, Wayne Dreyan Willis and wife, Dominique of Charlotte, North Carolina, and her youngest daughter, Khadijah Willis of Hookerton, North Carolina; her mother, Mrs. Mildred Willis of Fremont, North Carolina; her father, Mr. Theodore Willis, Sr. of Florida; her sister, Mrs. Linda Gail Coley of Raleigh, North Carolina, her brother, Mr. Theodore Willis, Jr. of Fremont, North Carolina; her sister, Mrs. Rosemary Willis Vick of Fremont, North Carolina; her sister, Mrs. Sharon Willis Coley of Goldsboro, North Carolina; her five beloved grandchildren, Delaun Willis, Kassidy Poole, Dylan Willis, Draya Willis and Kali Hart; her uncles, Mr. John Yelverton of High Point, North Carolina and Mr. Roosevelt Yelverton of Mount Vernon, New York; her aunt, Ms. Bernice Yelverton of Bronx, New York; her dear friend, Mr. Sylvester Lane, Jr. of Hookerton, North Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

On Saturday, August 17, 2019, the family members and friends will assemble in the parking lot at Britt Funeral Home, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551 at 7:30 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.
