Mrs. Ruby Kornegay Taylor

Mrs. Ruby Kornegay Taylor, age 83, lovingly known by her family members and friends as “Sang-Gal” of 2538 NC Highway 903-North, La Grange, North Carolina passed away on Monday, April 10, 2017 at Lenoir Memorial Hospital in Kinston, North Carolina.

Ruby was born in Wayne County, North Carolina, on April 17, 1933 to the late Mr. Ben Kornegay and Mrs. Lucetta Giles-Kornegay. 

She was educated in the Wayne County Public School System.

During Mrs. Taylor working years, she worked at Alston Tobacco Company as a Machine Operator.

Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mr. James (Gus) Taylor; her daughter, Ruby Taylor; her two sisters, Lucettie Koonce and Thelma Marie Williams; her two brothers, Mr. Benjamin (Buddy) Kornegay, Jr. and Mr. James (Rooster) Kornegay; her son-in-law, Alton R. Davis.

Funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. in the Saint James Church of Christ, 401 West Queen Street, La Grange, NC.  Bishop Ronnie Hood will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, 395 West James Street, La Grange, NC.

Also, there will be a public viewing, one (1) hour prior to the Funeral Service on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Saint James Church of Christ, 401 West Queen Street, La Grange, NC. 

Mrs. Taylor leaves to cherish her loving and precious memories to her three daughters, Lisia D. Lanier of the home and husband, Terry, of La Grange, NC, Vandarie S. Davis of La Grange, NC and Patsy L. Davis and husband, Clarence, of Kinston, NC; her son, Shelton A. Taylor and wife, Angela, of La Grange NC; eight grandchildren; twenty two great grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Gibbs of La Grange, NC and Patsy Phillips of Norfolk, VA; her brothers-in-law, William (Bill) Taylor of Philadelphia, PA, Aaron Taylor of Goldsboro NC and Robert (Bobby) Taylor of La Grange, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.  

On Tuesday, April 18, 2017, the family members and friends will assemble at the residence of Mrs. Lisia D. Lanier, 2538 NC Highway 903-North, La Grange, NC at 11:00 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.

Flowers may be sent to Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, NC; beginning on Monday, April 17, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
