In profound sorrow, the Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service join with the Best, Moye, and Raspberry families to announce Mrs. Mildred Louise Moye Raspberry, age 91, of La Grange, North Carolina has completed her earthly journey.
She was lovingly known by her family members and friends as “Mama and Sister”.
Mrs. Raspberry transitioned from labor to reward, July 21, 2024, at Greenville Health & Rehabilitation Center in Greenville, North Carolina.
Mildred was born in Lenoir County, North Carolina, September 2, 1932, to the late Mr. Patrick Moye and Mrs. Madie Best Moye.
She received her education in Lenoir County Public School System. She attended and graduated from Adkin High School in Kinston, North Carolina.
Mildred graduated in the Class of 1954.
During her employment years, Mrs. Raspberry worked as a Teacher’s Assistant and retired after 30 years of service. She performed other skilled work activities such as alterations for Brody and Pearson Department Stores. Mrs. Raspberry made her own clothes and did sewing for others.
During her christian walk in life, she was a faithful member of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church in La Grange, North Carolina. Mother Raspberry attended Sunday School, sang in the Junior Choir, ushered on the Senior Usher Board and became a member of the Lela Moore Mission Circle. Later in her christian walk, she was ordained as a Mother.
Mother Raspberry was preceded in death by her parents, Patrick Moye and Madie Best Moye; her three brothers, Willie Patrick, Perry Edwin and Therman Lee; her husband, Roye Raspberry and her daughter, Carolyn Raspberry.
A public visitation will be held Friday, July 26, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, 209 South Carey Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551. Dr. Michael A. Johnson will officiate.
Interment will follow the Celebration of Life Service in Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, 295 West James Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551.
Mildred leaves to cherish her memories, her two sons, Ervin Moye of La Grange, NC and Terry (Jelonda) Raspberry of Kinston, NC; her sister, Inez Moye of La Grange, NC; her two brothers, Herman Dee (Ann) Moye of Winston Salem, NC and Winfred (Pearl) Moye of La Grange, NC; her eleven grandchildren, including Sayvion Raspberry, a very dedicated and faithful grandson; her twelve great-grandchildren; her two great-great grandchildren; her eleven nieces; her seven nephews; her two dear friends, Annie Brown and Earnesteen Braxton; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Saturday, July 27, 2024, the family members and friends will assemble at the residence of Mrs. Mildred Moye Raspberry, 308 West Railroad Street, La Grange, North Carolina at 12:00 p.m., in preparation for the funeral procession to Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, La Grange, North Carolina.
Floral arrangements may be delivered to Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina beginning Friday morning, July 26, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
