”I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” (II Timothy 4:7)

Mrs. Margaret Ann Parks, age75, lovingly known by her family members and friends as “Meal” of 1016 North Harrison Street, Richmond, Virginia and formerly from La Grange, North Carolina, departed her earthly life on Sunday, February 19, 2017, at the VCU Medical Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.

Mrs. Parks was born in Lenoir County, North Carolina on April 2, 1941.  She was born to the late Mr. Clarence Parker and Mrs. Mattie Grady Parker.

She attended the Lenoir County Public School System.

Mother “Meal” was preceded in death by her husband, Magnus Parks, Jr.; her parents, Clarence Parker and Mrs. Mattie Grady Parker; her four sisters, Mary Elizabeth Davis, Ruby Parker, Irene Parker Wade and Polly Parker; one brother, Jimmy Parker.

During Margaret’s growing up years, she had to help raise her brothers and sisters.

Margaret loved and enjoyed working outside of her home.  She farmed all of her life until she retired from farming and started housekeeping.

She loved working in her garden but most of all Margaret loved all of her flowers.  She had many different flowers and many different plants.

Margaret always said, “Give me my flowers while I'm alive and so I can see them and enjoy them because when I'm dead I can't enjoy them.”

Her favorite sayings to everyone was “Shug.”

Another expression Margaret would say to her family members and friends was, “I may tire out, but I'm not giving up.”

Mother “Meal” became tired but, she never gave up.

“He Will Call And You Will Answer.” John 5:28
