Mrs. Laura Whitfield Williams, age 93, of 302 West James Street, La Grange, North Carolina passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the Greendale Forest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Snow Hill, North Carolina.

Laura was born in Wayne County, North Carolina, on December 16, 1923 to the late Mr. Elijah Jones and Mrs. Rosa Phillips-Jones.

She was educated in the Wayne County Public School System.

Funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, August 12, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at Saint Luke FWB Church, 306 West King Street, La Grange, NC.  Bishop Joe N. Dixon will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, 295 West James Street, La Grange, NC.

Also, a public viewing will be held on Friday, August 11, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Saint Luke FWB Church, 306 West King Street, La Grange, NC with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Mrs. Laura Whitfield Williams leaves to cherish her loving and precious memories to:  her daughters, Thelma Whitfield-Jordan and Diane White; her son, Larry Whitfield and wife, Jacque; her granddaughter, Debra Jones; her grandsons, Reginald Whitfield (whom she raised) and wife, Kari, Sherrod White and Antoine Hardy; her great grandson, Kevin Whitfield and wife, Johanna; her great-great grandson, Elijah Whitfield; her special cousin, Glennie Mae Allen; her cherished friends, Lillian Bright, Lucy Graham, Ethel Davis, Teresa Kornegay; her wonderful neighbors, Eddie and Barbara Britt; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

On Saturday, August 12, 2017, the family members and friends will assemble at the residence of Mrs. Laura Whitfield Williams, 302 West James Street, La Grange, NC at 11:50 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.

Flowers may be sent to Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, NC, beginning on Friday, August 11, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
