Mrs. Josephine Smith Taylor

Mrs. Josephine Smith Taylor, age 83, lovingly known by her family members and friends as “Josephine” of 307 Easy Street, La Grange, North Carolina passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at her residence.

Josephine was born in Jones County, North Carolina, on September 6, 1933 to the late Mr. Warren Smith, Sr. and Mrs. Daisy Gooding Smith. 

Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Roosevelt Taylor Jr.; her brothers, Warren Smith, Jr., George Washington Smith and Henry Smith; and her sister, Thelma Nichols.

Funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, May 7, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at the Rouse’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 4813 Rouse Chapel Church Road, La Grange, NC.  Rev. Harold O. Warren will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, 395 West James Street, La Grange, NC.

Also, a public viewing will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, NC.

 Mrs. Taylor leaves to cherish her loving and precious memories to her two sons, Rev. Thomas R. Taylor and wife, Geraldine, of Snow Hill, NC and Roosevelt Taylor, III of La Grange, NC; her four daughters, Jane T. Miller and husband, John, of La Grange, NC, Deborah Taylor of the home, Elizabeth Taylor of Kinston, NC and Gabrielle Taylor Alexander of Goldsboro, NC; her six grandchildren; her six great-grandchildren; her sister, Alma Harris of Fort Barnwell, NC; her brothers, Ezekiel Smith of Virginia and Lee Smith of La Grange, NC; her godson, Archie Moore of Ayden, NC; her goddaughter, Gwendolyn L. Ellis of La Grange, NC; her foster daughter, Lisa Grey of New Jersey; her beloved friends, Bell Jackson, Swannie Waters and Lendell Wooten; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.  

On Sunday, May 7, 2017, the family members and friends will assemble at the residence of Mrs. Josephine Taylor, 307 Easy Street, La Grange, NC at 12:45 p.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.
