In profound sorrow, the Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service join with the Bailey, Sims, Chase and Harris families to announce Mrs. Doris Ann (Sims) Harris, age 78, of Goldsboro, North Carolina has completed her earthly journey. 

She was lovingly known by her family members and friends as “NaNa and Dal”. 

Mrs. Harris transitioned from labor to reward, September 20, 2024 at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, North Carolina. 

Doris was born in Wayne County, North Carolina, October 6, 1945, to the late Mr. J. D. Sims and the living Mrs. Lenora Bailey-Sims.

Doris received her education in the Wayne County Public School System.  

During her employment years, she served as a Health Benefits Advisor for Walson Army Hospital in Fort Dix, New Jersey.  After retiring with 31 years of service, she relocated back to Goldsboro, North Carolina.

 During her spiritual walk in life, she served on the Pastor’s Aide Committee under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Kenneth Tate at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Goldsboro, North Carolina.

During her “Down Time” in life, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing Bingo, watching game shows and going to the boutique.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Lenwood C. Harris and her daughter, Ms. Tangela Lynette Harris.

A public visitation will be held Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. at Augusta Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 599 Durham Lake Road, Dudley, North Carolina 28333. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Augusta Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 599 Durham Lake Road, Dudley, North Carolina 28333.  Minister El-Fatih Chase will officiate. 

Interment will follow the Celebration of Life Service in Elmwood Cemetery, 900 West Brick Street, Goldsboro, North Carolina 27530.

Saturday, September 28, 2024, the family members and friends will assemble at the residence of Mother Lenora Sims, 1604 Boyette Drive, Goldsboro, North Carolina at 8:45 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession to Augusta Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 599 Durham Lake Road, Dudley, North Carolina 28333

Floral arrangements may be delivered to Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina beginning Friday morning, September 27, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
