The Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service join with the Everette Family to announce the passing of Mrs. Christine Joyner Everette, formerly of Princeton, North Carolina. She was lovingly known by her family members and friends as “Tine.”
Mrs. Christine Joyner Everette, age 100 and formerly of Princeton NC, transitioned from labor to reward on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at the Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, North Carolina.
She was born in Sampson County, North Carolina on October 5, 1919 to the late Mrs. Pearl Kornegay.
Christine received some of her education in the Sampson County Public School System and her formal education in the Johnston County Schools.
She was a dedicated member of the Johnston County Home Demonstration Club and served as the secretary of the club. Also, Mrs. Everette was an excellent seamstress and gardener.
During Mrs. Christine’s working years, she served as a dedicated homemaker and a farm laborer on different farms.
On her Christian journey, Deaconess Everette became a member of Cedar Grove Disciple Church. Years later, she moved her membership to Saint Stephens Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Everette was preceded in death by her husband, Deacon Jasper Everett; her brother, Mr. Joseph McCain; her daughter, Mrs. Gennie Mae Everette Cox; her son, Mr. Roy Everette; and her granddaughter, Mrs. Gevankco Jones Flagg.
A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, March 2, 2020, at 12:00 p.m. in the Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551. Rev. Robbie Millard, Pastor will officiate.
Also, a public viewing will be conducted on Monday, March 2, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. in the Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551.
Interment will follow the celebration of life service on Monday, March 2, 2020, in the Everette Family Cemetery, 2257 Old Smithfield Road, Princeton, North Carolina 27569.
Mother Everette leaves to cherish her loving and precious memories to her sister, Maria Wynkoop; her brother-in-law, Theodore Everette; her daughters, Annie Ruth Everette Brown and husband, James and Helen Everette Wilson; her grandchildren, Dennis Cox, Sharon Everette Sanders, Sandra Cox Cooper and husband, Jimmie, Shirlene Cox, Freda Holback, Lisa Everette Graddy and husband, Wiley, Jason D. Wilson and wife, Athena Canon; a host of great grandchildren, other family members and friends.
On Monday, March 2, 2020, the family members and friends will assemble at the residence of Mrs. Helen Everette Wilson, 101-A Wilshire Way, Goldsboro, North Carolina at 10:00 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.
