Mr. Willie Ray Washington

In profound sorrow, Barnes Funeral Home and Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service join with the Washington Family to announce that Mr. Willie Ray Washington, age 61, and formerly of Wilson, North Carolina has completed his earthly journey.

He was lovingly known by his family members and friends as “Big Willie or Big Wilt.”

Mr. Washington transitioned from labor to reward on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at the Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern, North Carolina. 

He was born in Wilson County, North Carolina on June 30, 1958 to the late Mr. Willie Simms and Ms. Marjorie Washington.

Willie received his education in the Wilson County Public School System.

He graduated as a “Titan” from Ralph L. Fike High School and in the Class of 1976.

Visitation and viewing in Wilson, North Carolina:

A public visitation and viewing will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Barnes Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 1739 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway #A, Wilson, North Carolina.

Burial:

A private ceremony will be held at a later date.

Mr. Washington leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories to his son, Mr. Damien Rayon Barnhill of Bellefonte, Pennsylvania; his sisters, Mrs. Hazel Dillard and husband, Alvis of Eden, North Carolina and Mrs. Annette Williams and husband, Wiley of Rocky Mount, North Carolina; his brother, William Bernard Washington of San Diego, California; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

On Saturday, September 28, 2019, the family members and friends will assemble at Barnes Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 1739 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway #A, Wilson, North Carolina at 10:45 a.m. in preparation for the visitation and viewing.
