Mr. Wayne Anthony Markham

December 12, 1956 ~ April 28, 2017 (age 60) 60 Years Old

Mr. Wayne Anthony Markham, age 60, of 15716 Piller Lane, Bowie, Maryland, departed his earthly life on Friday, April 28, 2017, at Doctors Community Hospital in Lanham, Maryland.

Wayne received his primary education at Saint Anthony’s Catholic School in Washington D.C.  Upon graduation, Wayne continued his education at Morgan University in Baltimore, Maryland.   

Wayne grew up in Seat Pleasant, Maryland. He enjoyed his adolescent years traveling and experiencing different cultural experiences with his parents and sister.  

He was an avid reader.  On any given day, you could find him reading the entire Washington Post.  Although he was from the DMV, Wayne was a “die-hard” Dallas Cowboys fan!  Wayne was never one to complain.  He had love for everyone he met.  

Wayne was employed for several years with the University of Maryland, College Park Maryland, in their maintenance/engineering department until his health began to fail.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Lawauns Lee-Markham and William Markham; his sister, Celest Markham; and his step-son, Tavaris Wade.  

Funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at 12:00 p.m. in the Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, NC.  Pastor Charles H. Kittrell will officiate.


Interment will follow in the Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, 395 West James Street, La Grange, NC.

Also, a public viewing will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2017, in the Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, NC


Brother Wayne Marklham leaves a legacy of love and memories to his wife, Mrs. Carla. R. Wade-Markham of the home; his children, Paris Markham, Yashara Markham, and Alonis Markham all of the home, Marlon Gardner of Washington DC and Kireem Swinton and wife, Daneeta of Fort Mead, Maryland; his grandchildren, Payton Swinton, Bailey Swinton, Marlon Tucker, Markeasha Adams, Marlon Calhoun, Tyrik Gardner, Malik Gardner, Khalil Gardner and Beautiful Calhoun; his sister, Cynthia champion; his brothers in law, James wade, Kenneth Wade, Andre Wade, and Derrick Ferguson Sr.; his sister in law, Bernadette Ferguson;  a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.   


On Saturday, May 6, 2017, the family members will assemble at Britt Funeral Home, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, NC being at 10:20 a.m. in preparation for the funeral line up.

Flowers may be sent to Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, NC, beginning on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
