In profound sorrow, the Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service join with the Ruffin, Mix and Cook families to announce Brother Quinton Lee Cook of Wilson, North Carolina, age 48, has completed his earthly journey. Brother Cook transitioned from labor to reward Friday, June 16, 2023 at Wilson Medical Center in Wilson, North Carolina. He was lovingly known by his family members and friends as “Pap”.
Quinton was born in Wilson County, North Carolina, June 16, 1975, to the late Mr. Robert Lee Cook and Mrs. Diane Ruffin-Cook.
He received some of his education in the Wilson County Public School System.
During Mr. Cook’s working years, he worked as a mechanic. He worked at Western Sizzlin and Tobacco Processors.
Pap loved his children, grandchildren and loving family members.
Mr. Cook was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Robert L. Cook; his maternal grandparents, Mrs. Earline R. Bynum and Mr. Crumb Smith; his paternal grandparents, Mrs. Nancy Cook and Mr. Joseph Hilliard and his uncles, Mr. Benjamin Ruffin and Mr. Carl Cook.
A public visitation will be held Wednesday, June 28, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. in Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551. Pastor John Ruffin will officiate.
Interment will follow the Celebration of Life Service in Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, 295 West King Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551.
Pap leaves a legacy of love and precious memories to his mother, Mrs. Diane Ruffin Cook of Wilson, North Carolina; his daughter, Ms. DeTyah Cook of Raleigh, North Carolina; his sons, Mr. Quinton Cook of Newport News, Virginia and Mr. Quintarious Cook of Greensboro, North Carolina; his grandsons, Mr. Triston Walker and Mr. Tylan Walker both of Raleigh, North Carolina and Mr. Ashton Cook of Newport News, Virginia; his sister, Mrs. Latisha R. Mix of Wilson, North Carolina; his brother, Mr. Jermon Cook of Fresno, California; his aunts, Mrs. Betty Ruffin, Mrs. Tracy Witherspoon and Mrs. Janice Cook all of Wilson, North Carolina; his uncles, Pastor John Ruffin, Mr. Jerry Ruffin, Mr. Charles Hines and Mr. Frank Cook all of Wilson, North Carolina; his five nieces, his two nephews, his two great-nieces and his great-nephew; his special friends, Mrs. Samantha Bunch and Mr. Sam Jones; a host of other family members and friends who loved him dearly.
Wednesday, June 28, 2023, the family members and friends will assemble at the residence of Mrs. Diane Cook, 906 Corbett Avenue, Apartment A, NE, Wilson, North Carolina at 9:00 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession to Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551.
