In profound sorrow, the Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service join with the Strickland Family to announce Mr. Ornie Strickland of Goldsboro, North Carolina, age 86, has completed his earthly journey.
He was lovingly known by his family members and friends as “Roy”.
Brother Strickland transitioned from labor to reward Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, North Carolina.
“Roy” was born in Nash County, Goldsboro, North Carolina September 24, 1934 to the late Mr. Ornie Strickland, Sr. and Mrs. Lester Merritt-Strickland.
He received his education in the Nash County Public School System in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
After graduating from high school, Brother Strickland served his country by enlisting into the United States Army. He was honorably discharged from the Army.
A celebration of life service will be held Thursday, January 28, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in the Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551. Elder Carolyn Barnes will officiate.
Interment will follow the celebration of life service in the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 164 Longs Plant Farm Road, Goldsboro, North Carolina 27534 at 12:00 P.M.
Also, a public viewing will be held Thursday, January 28, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. in the Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551.
Brother Strickland leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories to his beloved wife, Mrs. Teresita Lubid-Strickland of the home; six children (1) Deborah Gail, (2) Gertis Elaine, (3) Clara Gray, (4) Gloria Juanita, (5) Ornie James and (6) Angela Michele; twelve grand children; nine great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
On Thursday, January 28, 2021, the family members and friends will assemble at Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina at 9:30 a.m. in preparation for the viewing and the Celebration of Life Service.
