In profound sorrow, the Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service join with the Britt and Taylor families to announce Mr. Martin Edward Britt of Goldsboro, North Carolina, age 82, has completed his earthly journey. 

Mr. Britt transitioned from labor to reward on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at the Wayne UNC Health Care Center in Goldsboro, North Carolina.  

Martin was born in Wayne County, North Carolina on May 31, 1938 to the late Mr. Othnal Britt, Sr. and Mrs. Mary Anna Taylor-Britt.

He received his education in the Wayne County Public School System and graduated from Central High School in the Class of 1958.

He attended and worshiped with Jumping Run Church in La Grange, North Carolina.  Also, Brother Martin attended Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Goldsboro, North Carolina.

During his working years, Martin was employed with Wachovia Bank as a HVAC Repairman until his retirement.  He worked and served his community well until his health began to decline. 

Brother Britt was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Othnal Britt, Sr. and Mrs. Mary Anna Taylor-Britt; his son, Mr. Lance Simmons; his brother in law, Mr. Bobby Kornegay.

A public viewing will be conducted Sunday, November 1, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. in the Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551. 

Also, a celebration of life graveside service will be held Sunday, November 1, 2020, at 12:30 p.m. in the Old Mill Cemetery, 3718 Central Heights Road, Goldsboro, North Carolina 27534. Dr. Juanita M. Whitfield will officiate.

Interment will follow the celebration of life service in the Old Mill Cemetery, 3718 Central Heights Road, Goldsboro, North Carolina 27534.

Brother Britt leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories to his soul companion, Mrs. Christine Bradshaw of Goldsboro, North Carolina; his children, Mrs. Martrina Britt Carter and husband, Thomas, of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Mrs. Keshia Britt Mitchell and husband, Timothy, of Douglasville, GA, Mrs. Kathy Gales and husband, Stanley, of Washington, DC, Mrs. Janie Forrest of Washington, DC, Mrs. Tyeshia Woodard of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Ms. Sophia Britt of Goldsboro, North Carolina and Mrs. Angela Bradshaw and husband, Keith, of Goldsboro, North Carolina; his siblings, Mr. Othnal Britt, Jr. and wife, Shirley, of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Mrs. Evelyn Staples and husband, Wayne, of Victoria, Virginia, Mr. Carl Thomas Britt and wife, Marilyn, of Hinsdale, New Hampshire, Mrs. Remathia Durham of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Mrs. Johnnie Ann Britt of La Grange, North Carolina and Mrs. Mary Ruth Kornegay of Richmond, Virginia;  a host of grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren; one aunt, Mrs. Elnora Britt Grantham; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

On Sunday, November 1, 2020, the family members and friends will assemble at Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina at 10:30 a.m. in preparation for the public viewing and funeral procession.
