Mr. Leamon Wooten Jr.

Mr. Leamon Wooten, Jr., age 75, lovingly known by his family members and friends as “Daddy Wooten or Sam” of La Grange, North Carolina passed away on Monday, May 29, 2017 at the Brain Center Health and Rehabilitation Nursing Home in Goldsboro, North Carolina.

Leamon was born in Wayne County, North Carolina, on February 18, 1942 to the late Mr. Leamon Wooten, Sr. and Mrs. Mattie Summers-Wooten.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his two sons, Christopher and William Wooten; his five sisters, Christine Wooten, Lucille Wooten, Annie Thompson, Mamie Walker, and Mary Bell; his three brothers, William Henry, Eugene, and Jay Wooten; his three sisters in law, Minnie Swinson, Ann Harper, Mittie Kornegay.

He was educated in the Wayne County Public School System.

During Mr. Wooten working years, he worked as a Bricklayer.

Funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at the Moore’s Chapel AME Church, 317 West Boundary Street, La Grange, NC.  Pastor Maurice R. Goodall will officiate.

Interment will follow in the La Grange Memorial Cemetery, 295 West James Street, La Grange, NC.

Also, a public viewing will be held on Friday, June 2, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, NC.

Mr. Wooten leaves behind his memories to forever be remembered by his wife, Pauline Swinson-Wooten of La Grange, NC; his daughter, Carolyn  Rouse and husband, Reginald, of La Grange, NC; his three sons, Leamon Wooten III of La Grange, NC, Antonio Wooten and wife, Tomeka, of Goldsboro, NC and Kenneth Wooten of Fairmount Heights, MD; his two step sons, Rodney Wooten of Raleigh, NC and Eugene Wooten of La Grange, NC; his two sisters, Pauline Wooten and Grace Sutton; his sister in law; Alice Gladney; his three brothers in law, Rev. Ezekiel Sutton, Fredrick Swinson, Charlie Harper; fourteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

On Saturday, June 3, 2017, the family members and friends will assemble at the residence of Mrs. Pauline S. Wooten, 101 South Joyner Street, La Grange, NC at 12:50 p.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.
