In profound sorrow, the Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service join with the Artis, McNair and Lee families to announce Mr. Joel Devon Artis of Goldsboro, North Carolina, age 45, has completed his earthly journey.
He was lovingly known by his family members and friends as “Swagger”.
Mr. Artis transitioned from labor to reward on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham, North Carolina.
Joel was born in Wayne County, North Carolina on October 3, 1975 to Ms. Rhonda G. Artis and Mr. Joey McNair.
He received his education in the Wayne County Public School System and graduated from Goldsboro High School.
Joel served his country by enlisting into the United States Army and returned home with an honorable discharge.
Brother Artis attended and worshiped at God’s House Ministries, International in Goldsboro, North Carolina and under the leadership of Apostle Tommie A. Artis and Pastor Paula Jean Artis.
He was preceded in death by his Maternal Grandparents, Prophetess Gertrude M. Artis and Deacon Thomas Henry Artis; his Paternal Grandparents, Prophetess Ruby Bell and Reverend Edward Bell.
A public viewing will be conducted Wednesday, December 30, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. in the Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551.
Also, a celebration of life graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at 12:30 p.m. in the Golden Gate Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 4734 Highway 117 North, Pikeville, North Carolina 27863. Pastor Paula Jean Artis will officiate.
Interment will follow the celebration of life service in the Golden Gate Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 4734 Highway 117 North, Pikeville, North Carolina 27863.

On December 30, 2020, the family members and friends will assemble at Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina at 10:30 a.m. in preparation for the viewing and funeral procession to the cemetery.
