In profound sorrow, the Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service join with the Hobbs, Holloway and Thompson families to announce Mr. Jeffery Lathan Hobbs of La Grange, North Carolina, age 52, has completed his earthly journey. 

Mr. Hobbs transitioned from labor to reward Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina.  He was lovingly known by his family members and friends as “Jeffery”. 

Jeffery was born in Durham County, North Carolina May 17, 1968 to the late Mrs. Ethel Hobbs and living, Mr. Larry D. Thompson.

He received some of his education in the Wayne County Public School System in Goldsboro, North Carolina.

Jeffery attended Eastern Wayne High School and graduated in the Class of 1987.

After a very serious accident, Jeffery spent a lot of time in and out of different hospitals for medical care.

Jeffery enjoyed family outings, family cookouts, seeing and being around family members and friends.

Brother Hobbs was preceded in death by his mother, Ms. Ethel Hobbs; his grandmother, Mrs. Rebecca Holloway Hobbs; his uncles, Mr. Robert Hobbs, Mr. Paul Thompson, Mr. Lindell Thompson, Mr. Pickey Holloway and Rev. L. Holloway.

 A public visitation will be held Wednesday, April 28, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. in the Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in the Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551.  Dr. Michael A. Johnson will officiate.  

Interment will follow the Celebration of Life Service in the Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, 295 West James Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551.

Brother Hobbs leaves to cherish his sweet and loving memories to his father, Mr. Larry Donald Thompson of La Grange, North Carolina; his uncles, Mr. Edward Hobbs and wife, Lillie, of La Grange, North Carolina and Mr. Ernest Hobbs and wife, Paula, of Virginia Beach, Virginia; his aunts, Ms. Nancy Collins and Ms. Linda Collins both of Pollocksville, North Carolina; a special friend and caretaker, Ms. Melba Battle; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Wednesday, April 28, 2021, the family members and friends will assemble at Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina at 9:30 a.m. in preparation for the visitation and the Celebration of Life Service.
