In profound sorrow, the Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service join with the Bostic, Hines, Crawford and Best families to announce Mr. Jamelle Monque Best, age 53, of Goldsboro, North Carolina has completed his earthly journey. 

He was lovingly known by his family members and friends as “JB”. 

Mr. Best transitioned from labor to reward, April 20, 2024 in Goldsboro, North Carolina. 

Jamelle was born in Wayne County, North Carolina, December 14, 1970, to Miss Joyce Marie Best and Mr. Lendell Hines.

Jamelle received his education in Wayne County Public School System.

He attended Goldsboro High School and graduated in the Class of 1989.

During Mr. Best employment years, he served as a Brick Mason at James Fox Construction Company.

During his Christian walk in life, Jamelle attended Darden Chapel Free Will Baptist Church and served on the Junior Usher Board.

During Jamelle’s “Relaxing Times” in life, he enjoyed his family members. 

Also, he enjoyed sports and spiritual music.

His favorite team was the “Pittsburgh Steelers” .  His favorite spiritual song was “Let This Be A Lesson To You” by Tommy Ellison.

Jamelle was preceded in death by is sister, Ms. Anita Nichelle Best.

A public visitation will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. in the Darden Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 111 East Hooks River Road, Goldsboro, North Carolina 27530.    

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the Darden Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 111 East Hooks River Road, Goldsboro, North Carolina 27530.  Pastor Elder Carlton Barnes will officiate. 

Interment will follow the Celebration of Life Service in the Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, 493 Casey Mill Road, Dudley, North Carolina 28333.

Jamelle leaves to cherish his precious memories to his mother, Joyce Marie Best; his two children, LaKesha Best and Jamelle Best, Jr.; his granddaughter, Autumn Wright; his sister, Nicole Best Crawford (Quincy); his nieces, LaTasha Best and  LaJasima Best Roberts (Deon); his nephew, Demico Best; his uncle, Leamon Wynn (Felicia); his aunts, Linda Klemn (Richard), Clara Hines and Beatrice Wynn; his best friends, Kevin Blount, Delfawn Crawford, Travis Caraway, James “Pop” Bogey, Shay Williams and Ron Miller; close friends of the family, James and Theresa Faison; a host of other cousins, relatives and friends.

Wednesday, May 1, 2024, the family members and friends will assemble at the residence of Miss Joyce Marie Best, 1800 Palm Street, Goldsboro, North Carolina 27530 at 9:15 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession to Darden Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 111 East Hooks River Road, Goldsboro, North Carolina 27530.
