Mr. Isaac "Ike" Roosevelt Yelverton

The Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service join with the Yelverton Family to announce the passing of Mr. Isaac Roosevelt Yelverton of Mount Vernon, New York.  He was lovingly known by his family members and friends as “Ike”.

Mr. Isaac Roosevelt Yelverton, age 83, transitioned from labor to reward on Friday, March 27, 2020 at the Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital, New Rochelle, New York.

He was born in Wayne County, North Carolina on March 27, 1937 to the late Mr. Isaac L. Yelverton and Mrs. Rosa M. Reid-Yelverton.   

“Ike” received his education in the Wayne and Wilson County Public School Systems.  He graduated from Springfield High School in Wilson County, Wilson, North Carolina.

During Mr. Yelverton’s working years, he served as a machine operator for Nick Penanachio Incorporated located in Bronx, New York for a number of years.

Mr. Yelverton was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Isaac L. Yelverton and Mrs. Rosa M. Reid-Yelverton; his twin sister, Rose Lee Yelverton-Sherrod; and his niece, Deputy Sheriff, Caula Willis.

Due to the Governor’s Rules, any gathering for funerals should be limited to ten (10) people and allow for social distancing of six (6) feet apart.  We are requesting that the family members and friends follow the Governor’s protocols or guidelines.

A graveside celebration of life service will be held on Friday, April 3, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. in the Turner Swamp Church Cemetery, 549 State Road 1520, Fremont, North Carolina 27830.  Reverend Howard Artis will officiate. 

Interment will follow the celebration of life service on Friday, April 3, 2020, in the Turner Swamp Church Cemetery, 549 State Road 1520, Fremont, North Carolina 27830.

Mr. “Ike” leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories to his  daughter, Mrs. Robin E. Yelverton Long of New York; his son, Mr. Jermaine Love of New York; his special longtime friend, Ms. Audrey Love of New York; his two grandsons, Mr. Aristotle and his wife, Jenna and Mr. Sophocles Long; his great grandson, Mr. Zayden Long; his two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Yelverton Willis of Fremont, North Carolina and Mrs. Bernice Yelverton of Bronx, New York; his brother, Mr. John R. Yelverton and wife, Mae, of High Point, North Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other caring relatives and friends.

On Friday, April 3, 2020, the family members and friends will assemble at the residence of Mrs. Mildred Yelverton Willis, 807 Chestnut Street, Fremont, North Carolina at 8:45 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.
