Mr. Henry Ganeous Obituary

The Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service join with the Ganeous Family to announce the passing of Mr. Henry Ganeous, of Rocky Mount, North Carolina.  He was lovingly known by his family members and friends as “Pops,” “Mr. Granddaddy” and “Daddy.”

Mr. Ganeous, age 87, transitioned from labor to reward on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 in the Nash UNC Health Care Center in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.

He was born in Columbus County, North Carolina on May 25, 1932 to the late Mr. Leroy Ganeous and Mrs. Lorraine Smith Ganeous.

Henry received his education in the Columbus County Public School System.  

After graduating from high school, Brother Ganeous served his country by enlisting into the United States Army.  He was honorably discharged after serving his assigned military duties.

After his six weeks of Basic Training in the military, Henry met, dated and married his beautiful and loving wife, Mrs. Catherine Richardson.

To this union, nine children were born, five beautiful daughters and four handsome sons.

After Mr. Ganeous' military service and during his working years, he served as a professional Auto Body Repairman for over sixty years.  He worked for Horton’s Auto Body Shop and several other Auto Body Shops. 

His favorite hobbies were fishing with his oldest grandchild, shooting pool, playing his guitar and helping his oldest daughter create beautiful garments. 

He was a member of the Wilson Chapel Free Will Baptist Church under the Leadership of Bishop Robert L. Gorham in Wilson, North Carolina.

Brother Ganeous was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Leroy Ganeous and Mrs. Lorraine Smith Ganeous; his two sons, Elmer Elroy Ganeous and DuVaughn Ganeous; his two brothers, Julius Lee Ganeous and Willie Roy Ganeous; his sister, Stella Mae Ganeous Bellamy and his grandson, Delano Jackson.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. in the Wilson Chapel FWB Church, 513 East Barnes Street, Wilson, North Carolina 27893.  Bishop Robert L. Gorham, D.D., Pastor will officiate. 

Interment will follow the celebration of life service in the Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 1717 Lane Street, SE, Wilson, North Carolina. 

Also, a public viewing will be conducted on Saturday, December 21, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. in the Wilson Chapel FWB Church, 513 East Barnes Street, Wilson, North Carolina 27893. 

Brother Ganeous leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories to:  his loving and former wife, Mrs. Catherine Cooper Mullins of Rocky Mount NC; his six daughters, Evangelist Faye C. Wilson and husband, Deacon Jimmy of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Mrs. Catherine Jackson and husband, Timothy of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Evangelist Beaudale “Dale” Fleming and husband, Deacon Alfonza of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Mrs. Greta Ganeous and husband, Michael of Oxon Hill, Maryland, Mrs. Felicia Pulley and husband, McKinley of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, and Ms. Carmen Ganeous of Washington, DC; his two sons, Mr. Andre’ Ganeous of Illinois and Mr. Marcus Ganeous and wife, Mary of Rockville, Maryland; his grandchildren, Catrisa Willis of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Wrenna Armwood of Waldorf, Maryland, Timothy Jackson, Jr. of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Brian Jackson of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Windale Ganeous of Sharpsburg, North Carolina, Andrea Norville of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Michaela Billinger of Wilmington, North Carolina, Deidra Gilyard of New Jersey, Marquise Williams of Virginia, Martae Williams of Virginia, Tameka Brown of Washington, DC, Sashia Vaughn of Texas, Takisha Ganeous, Temple Hill, Maryland, Tiffany Ganeous of Laurel, Maryland, Darryl Jackson of Silver Spring, Maryland, Dante’ Jackson, Silver Spring, Maryland, Ronald Ganeous of Silver Spring, Maryland, Detria Jordan of Washington, DC, DeAndre Jordan of Washington, DC, Maria Ganeous of Maryland, Demetrius Ganeous of Tacoma Park, Maryland, Aliyah Ganeous of Washington, DC and Elijah Habtemicael of Washington, DC; a host of great-great grandchildren; his daughter in law, Mrs. Tameka Ganeous; his god daughter,  Esperanza Montaque Butler of Lumberton, North Carolina; his nieces, nephews, cousin other relatives of friends.

On Saturday, December 21, 2019, the family and friends will assemble at the Residence of Mr. and Mrs. Mckinley Pulley, 1817 Old Wilson Road, Rocky Mount, North Carolina at 10:15 a.m. in preparation for the funeral possession.  

Floral arrangements may be delivered to Wilson Chapel Church, 513 East Barnes Street, Wilson, North Carolina beginning on Saturday morning , December 21, 2019 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
