In profound sorrow, Cotton Funeral Home Services and Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service join with the Lucas Family to announce that the famous, Mr. Frank Lucas, Sr., formerly of La Grange, North Carolina, at age 88, has completed his earthly journey.
In his younger years, he was lovingly known by his family members and friends as “The Godfather of Harlem.”
Mr. Lucas transitioned from labor to reward on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at the Alaris Health Care Center at Cedar Grove in Cedar Grove, New Jersey.
He was born in Lenoir County, North Carolina on September 9, 1930 to the late Mr. Fred Lucas and Mrs. Mahalee Jones Lucas.
Frank received some of his education in the Lenoir County public school system.
Mr. Lucas' life was dramatized in the Universal Pictures crime film American Gangster (2007), in which he was portrayed by Mr. Denzel Washington, Actor, director and producer. (Copied from Wikipedia, June, 2019)

A public viewing will be held on Monday, June 10, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Saint Luke AME Church, 146 Clinton Avenue, Newark, New Jersey.
A celebration of life or home-going service will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. in the Saint Luke AME Church, 146 Clinton Avenue, Newark, New Jersey. Pastor Dr. Jamal Bryant will officiate.
Visitation and viewing in La Grange, North Carolina:
A public viewing and visitation will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina.
Interment will follow the viewing and visitation service in the Pinelawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 4488 US-70 East, Kinston, North Carolina.
