Mr. Finley P Edwards

Mr. Finley P. Edwards, age 63, lovingly known by his family members and friends as “Dawg”  of 411 West King Street, La Grange, North Carolina passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, North Carolina.

Finley was born in Lenoir County, La Grange, North Carolina, on September 10, 1953 to the late Mr. Brodie Edwards, Sr. and Mrs. Gonnie Kingdon Edwards. 

He was educated in the Lenoir County Public School System.

Finley attended and graduated from Frink High School in the Class of 1970.  

After high school, he became gainfully employed at Hardy Newson Foundry for several years until the company closed.

Finley enjoyed entertaining and having a good time with family and friends.  Finley always had a smile on his face and will be remembered for his kind nature and his one of a kind laugh.  

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Montais Edwards.

Funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, April 1, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. in the Saint James Church of Christ, 401 West Queen Street, La Grange, NC.  Pastor John Ruffin will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Fairview Memorial Cemetery, 395 West James Street, La Grange, NC.

Also, there will be a public viewing on Friday, March 31, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, NC.

Mr. Edwards leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories to his three sisters, Marion Edwards of Durham, NC, Jacquelyn Edwards of Snow Hill, NC, and Alice Faye Bryant of New Jersey; his three brothers, Brodie Edwards, Jr. of LaGrange, NC,  Robert Edwards and wife, Beverly of New Jersey, and Thurmond Edwards of La Grange, NC;  his two aunts, Ruby Elmore of Bunn, NC, and Bessie Smith of New Jersey; his god sister, Joyce Bizzell; his special friend, Barbara Koonce;  a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.  

On Saturday, April 1, 2017, the family members will assemble at the Edwards’ Family Residence, 411 West King Street, La Grange, NC at 10:00 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.

Flowers may be sent to Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, NC; beginning on Friday, March 31, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
