Mr. Dennis Jerome Sykes

Mr. Dennis Jerome Sykes, age 66, of 208 East Boundary Street, La Grange, NC, departed his earthly life on Monday, April 10, 2017, at the Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, North Carolina.

Dennis was born in Lenoir County, North Carolina on January 11, 1951.

He was born to the late Mr. Enis Sykes and Mrs. Sarah Allen-Sykes.

Dennis was educated in the Lenoir County Public School System. He attended Wayne Community College where he earned his AA Degree.

During Mr. Sykes working years, he was employed with the AAR Cargo System in Goldsboro, NC where he served as a Machine Operator.

Funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, April 15, 2017, at 12:00 p.m. in the Saint Mary Free Will Baptist Church, 311 Arba-Jason Road, La Grange, NC.  Pastor Antonio Blow will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, 395 West James Street, La Grange, NC.

Also, a public viewing will be held on Friday, April 14, 2017, in the Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, NC from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Brother Dennis Sykes leaves a legacy of love and memories to his brother, Ennis A. Sykes and his wife, Anita, of La Grange, NC; his two sisters, Emma S. Phillips, Chesapeake, VA and Alice S. Lampley and her husband, Floyd, of West Orange, NJ; his two aunts, Lola Allen and Glennie Allen, both of La Grange, NC;  his two nieces, Alicia Lampley Douglas and husband, Tajiri, and Ennicia D. Sykes; his five nephews, Phelan Phillips, Julian D. Sykes, Tharoy Phillips, Jr., Terrence F. Lampley and Ennis A. Sykes, Jr. and wife, Tammy; a host of great nieces, great nephews, other close relatives and friends.

On Saturday, April 15, 2017, the family members and friends will assemble at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Ennis A. Sykes, 104 Willow Pond Drive, La Grange, NC at 10:45 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.

Flowers may be sent to Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, NC beginning on Friday, April 14, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
