In profound sorrow, the Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service join with the Parks, Artis, Britt and Hudson families to announce Mother Gertrude Parks Britt-Hudson of Goldsboro, North Carolina, age 91, has completed her earthly journey.
She was lovingly known by her family members and friends as “Gert”.
Mother Gertrude transitioned from labor to reward on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at the Wayne UNC Health Care Center in Goldsboro, North Carolina.
Gertrude was born in Greene County, North Carolina August 31, 1929 to the late Mr. Charlie Parks and Mrs. Lillie Mae Artis-Parks.
She received her education in the Greene County Public School System.
During her younger years, Mother Gertrude loved and attended Thompson Chapel Church. Mother Hudson’s church activities include the following: she sang in the choir, she served on the usher board, she was ordained as a mother of the church and later became chairperson of the Mother Board, finally, she was an active member until her health declined.
A public viewing will be conducted Sunday, October 4, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. at Thompson Chapel Church, 2393 North Beston Road, La Grange, North Carolina 28551.
Also, a celebration of life graveside service will be held Sunday, October 4 2020, at 11:30 a.m. in the Old Mill Cemetery, 3718 Central Heights Road, Goldsboro, North Carolina 27534. Pastor Jacob Pickett will officiate.
Burial will follow the celebration of life service in the Old Mill Cemetery, 3718 Central Heights Road, Goldsboro, North Carolina 27534.
Mother Hudson leaves to cherish her loving and precious memories to her children, Mr. James Britt and wife, Rosie, of Glen Allen, Virginia, Mr. Kenneth Britt and wife, Sheila, of Richmond, Virginia, Mr. Anthony Britt and wife, Penny, Mrs. Makeda Wyche and husband, Tyrone, Ms. Vernese Rowe and Ms. Wilda Edwards all of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Ms. Wanda Davis of La Grange, North Carolina, Ms. Karen Hudson-Ward of Goldsboro, North Carolina and Mrs. Barbara Williams and husband, Dwight, of Austell, Georgia; her sisters, Ms. Eula Lane of Maryland, Ms. Reather Edwards of Goldsboro, North Carolina; her sister-in-law, Ms. Helen Parks of Goldsboro, North Carolina; her fifteen (15) grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
On Sunday, October 4, 2020, the family members and friends will assemble at Thompson Chapel Church, 2393 North Beston Road, La Grange, North Carolina 28551 at 9:45 a.m. in preparation for the viewing and the funeral procession to the cemetery.
