Ms. Willa Jean Becton

In profound sorrow, the Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service join with the Becton Family to announce that Ms. Willa Jean Becton, formerly of La Grange, North Carolina, at age 67, has completed her earthly journey. 

She was lovingly known by her family members and friends as “Willa.”

Ms. Becton transitioned from labor to reward on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at the Willow Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Goldsboro, North Carolina.

She was born in Wayne County, North Carolina on January 20, 1952 to the late Mr. Clifton McLaurin and the living Mrs. Etta Joyner Becton.

Willa received her education in the Wayne County Public School System.

In her younger years, Willa joined Saint Delight United Holy Church in La Grange, North Carolina and became a faithful member.

During Willa’s working years, she worked for several companies and retired from work, due to her disability.

Willa was adopted by her step father, Mr. Norman Becton, after marrying her mother, Mrs. Etta Joyner Becton.

Mr. Norman Becton preceded her in death.

A celebration of life service will be conducted on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, 209 South Carey Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551.  Bishop Devin C. Pickett, Sr. will officiate.

Interment will follow the celebration of life service in the Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, 195 West James Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551.

Also, a public viewing will be held on Friday, February 15, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina.

Ms. Willa leaves a legacy of love and memories to her sweet and precious Mother, Mrs. Etta Joyner Becton of La Grange, North Carolina; her three sisters, Joyce Best Marsh of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Chris Ann McLaurin of Goldsboro, North Carolina, and Patricia Joyner-Mitchell and husband, Jonathan, of Oxon Hill, Maryland; her nine brothers, Donald McLaurin of Marietta, Georgia, Norman McLaurin of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Reginald McLaurin of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Clifton Craig McLaurin of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Conway McLaurin of Trotwood, Ohio, Edward Becton and wife, Mertie, of Fort Washington, Maryland, Stanley Becton and wife, Patricia, of Manhattan, New York, Donnell Joyner of La Grange, North Carolina, and Avery Becton and wife, Janet, of Manassas Park, Virginia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

On Saturday, February 16, 2019, the family members and friends will assemble at the residence of Mother Etta Joyner Becton, 301 South Wooten Street, La Grange, North Carolina at 11:45 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.

Floral arrangements may be delivered on Friday morning, February 15, 2019 beginning at 9:00 a.m. through 1:30 p.m. to Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina.
