The Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service join with the Crawford Family to announce the passing of Ms. Doris Elizabeth Crawford, of Goldsboro, North Carolina. She was lovingly known by her family members and friends as “Doby.”
Ms. Crawford, age 66, transitioned from labor to reward on Sunday, September 15, 2019 in Lenoir County, North Carolina.
She was born in Wayne County, North County on September 18, 1952 to the late Mr. Andrew Crawford and Mrs. Rosa Moore Crawford.
Doris received her education in the Wayne County Public School System.
During Ms. Crawford working years, she served as a bus monitor for the Lenoir County School System.
Sister Doris was a faithful member of the Saint Delight United Holy Church (in the Parkstown Community.) She served on the Church Program Committee, Scholarship Committee and was a member of the Women Fellowship Committee. Also, she sang in Saint Delight Choir, the Eastern District Choir and the Southern District Mass Choir until her health declined.
Ms. Crawford was preceded in death by her parents, Deacon Andrew Crawford and Mrs. Rosa Moore Crawford; her brothers, Mr. Lawyer E. Crawford and Mr. James E. Crawford; her brother in law, Bishop Quincy Gardner, Jr.; her aunt, Mrs. Lena Scarborough.
A public viewing will be conducted on Friday, September 20, 2019 from10:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. with the celebration of life service starting at 11:00 a.m. in the Saint Delight United Holy Church, 976 La Grange Road (Parkstown Community), La Grange, North Carolina 28551. Bishop Devin C. Pickett, Sr. will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Old Mill Cemetery, 3718 Central Heights Road, Goldsboro, North Carolina 27534.
Mother Doris leaves to cherish her loving and precious memories to her son, Barron A. Crawford and wife, Freda of Greensboro, North Carolina; her grandson, Alejandro Benjamon of Goldsboro, North Carolina; her sisters, Mrs. Mary D. Faison and husband, Arthur of San Antonio, Texas and Mrs. Lenora C. Gardner of La Grange, North Carolina; her brother, Mr. William H. Crawford and wife, Alice of Goldsboro, North Carolina, her god sister, Mrs. Brenda Lee and husband, Alfonza of Dudley, North Carolina; her uncle, William S. Moore of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
On Friday, September 20, 2019, the family members and friends will assemble at the residence of Ms. Doris Crawford, 618 Slaughter Street, Goldsboro, North Carolina at 8:30 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.
