Bishop Jesse Jerome Loftin

June 2, 1954 ~ December 29, 2017 (age 63) 63 Years Old

Bishop Jesse Jerome Loftin, age 63, lovingly known by his family members and friends as “Bishop Loftin” of Fayetteville, North Carolina passed away on Friday, December 29, 2017 at the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Jesse was born in Lenoir County, North Carolina on June 2, 1954 to Mrs. Ina Lee Loftin Harper and the late Mr. Herman Weldon.

He was educated in the Greene County public school system and graduated from Greene Central High School in the Class of 1972.

After graduation, Jesse enlisted into the United States Army.  He served his country honorably and received numerous medals and commendations.  Bishop Loftin retired from the United States Army with over 20 years of service and he received an honorable discharge.

During Jesse’s early years, he met, dated and married Ms. Brenda Kittrell on June 26, 1976.  To this marriage of 4l years, they had a daughter, Ms. Jessica Loftin.

During Bishop Loftin’s spiritual life, he loved to preach God’s Word and spread the Gospel.

In his latter years, Bishop Loftin attended Kingdom Living of Fayetteville, NC.  He was known in church for his infamous phrase “PUT A PRAISE ON IT”, blowing his whistle and never failing to give God all the praise.  

Funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, January 4, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. in the Cornerstone United Holy Church, Inc., 109 East Boundary Street, La Grange, North Carolina. 

Interment will be held in Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 164 Longs Plant Farm Road, Goldsboro, North Carolina.

Also, a public viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Bishop Loftin leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories to his wife of the home, Brenda Kittrell Loftin, his daughter, Jessica Loftin of Charlotte, NC; his mother, Ina Lee Harper of LaGrange, NC; his brothers, Donald Ray Harper and wife, Patricia, of Kinston, NC, Johnny Harper and wife, Marlyn, and Melvin Harper and wife, Belinda, all of LaGrange, NC, Robert Weldon and wife, Geraldine, of Fort Washington, Maryland; his sisters, Claudia Warren and Yvonne Thaggard of Fayetteville, NC, Barbara Loftin, Teresa Harper and Teresa Weldon all of LaGrange, NC, Elaine Harper of Raleigh, NC, and Ethel Philips and husband, William, of Goldsboro, NC; his aunts, Marie Rouse, Finnettia Alston-Wall, Lucy Weldon Clark, and Evelyn Reed; his uncle, James Howard Loftin; his parents-in-law, Lafayette & Shirley Kittrell; sisters-in-law, Sandra (Dalton), Angela (Desmond), and Queenie; brothers-in-law, Lafayette, Jr., Marvin, and Norwood; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

On Thursday, January 4, 2018, the family members and friends will assemble at the residence of Mrs. Ina Harper, of 113 Circle Drive, La Grange, North Carolina at 11:45 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.
