In profound sorrow, the Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service join with the Best, Britt and Phillips families to announce Ms. Sue Carol Britt Phillips, age 80, formerly of La Grange, North Carolina has completed her earthly journey. 

She was lovingly known by her family members as “Mommy”. 

Ms. Phillips transitioned from labor to reward, December 2, 2022, at The Brooklyn Hospital Center in Brooklyn, New York. 

Sue was born in Lenoir County, North Carolina, May 3, 1942, to the late Reverend Zeddie Britt and Mrs. Lettie Best-Britt.

During her employment years, Ms. Phillips served as a Behavior Modification Specialist for an Educational Institution in Brooklyn, New York. 

While performing her Christian duties, for over 40 years, Usher Sue Carol Phillips manned the doors of Cornerstone Baptist Church.

A public visitation will be held Friday, December 9, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the Rouse’s Chapel Church, 4813 Rouse Chapel Road, La Grange, North Carolina 28551.   Reverend Charles H. Kittrell will officiate. 

Interment will follow the Celebration of Life Service in the Old Mill Cemetery, 3718 Central Heights Road, Goldsboro, North Carolina 27534.

Ms. Phillips leaves to cherish her sweet and precious memories to her three sons, Mr. Nurlin Rawn Tarrant, III, Mr. Shawn Zeddie Tarrant, Sr. and wife, Mrs. Latisha, Mr. Merrick Alpha Omega Phillips, Sr. and wife, Mrs. Lakisha; her daughter, Mrs. Sarissa Sue Phillips-Singletary and husband, Mr. Lenny; eight grandchildren, Mr. Nurlin Rawn, IV, Ms. Royal Nicole, Ms. Kayla Elizabeth, Ms. Jordan Brielle, Mr. Nelson Romero Tarrant, Mr. Shawn Zeddie, Jr., Mr. Merrick Alpha Omega, Jr. and Miss. Lael Reese;  her two great-granddaughters, Miss. Sage and Miss. Carmen and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Saturday, December 10, 2022, the family members and friends will assemble in the parking lot at Britt Funeral Home, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551, at 9:50 a.m., in preparation for the funeral procession to Rouse’s Chapel Church, 4813 Rouse Chapel Road in La Grange, North Carolina.
