In profound sorrow, the Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service join with the Davis, Pridgen and Dixon families to announce Mrs. Sarah Lois Pridgen Davis of La Grange, North Carolina, age 82, has completed her earthly journey.

Mother Davis transitioned from labor to reward, Monday, April 18, 2022, at UNC Lenoir Health Care.

Mother Davis was born in Snow Hill, North Carolina, October 8, 1939, to the late Mr. Luther Pridgen and Mrs. Vera Lee Dixon Pridgen.  She received her education in the Greene County Public School System.

Mother Davis worked, as a Teacher’s Aide, for the Boards of Education in North Carolina and New Jersey, until retirement.

Mother Davis was a lover of music, Gospel music in particular. She was a self-taught piano player.  She played for many quartet groups and choirs in North Carolina and New Jersey.  Most of all, she loved her family.

Mother Davis was preceded in death by her father and mother, Mr. Luther Pridgen and Mrs. Vera Lee Dixon Pridgen; her brothers, Mr. David Pridgen, Mr. Marion Lee Pridgen, Sr. and Mr. Carnell Pridgen Sr.; her sisters-in-law, Mrs. Hilda Pridgen, Mrs. Charlene Pridgen, Mrs. Helena Pridgen and Mrs. Barbara Pridgen.

Mother Davis leaves to cherish her loving and precious memories to the Matriarch of the family, Mrs. Wilhelmina Edwards, lovingly known by her family members and friends as, “Aunt Mina”; her children,  Mr. Mardy Davis, Mr. Reginald Garner, Mr. Willie (Wanda) Davis Jr., Mrs. Elizabeth (Darryl) Arroyo Robinson, Pastor Vicki Davis, Mrs. Janis Anelus and Mr. Keith (Carol) Davis; her beloved brother, Mr. Chester (Barbara) Pridgen Sr.; her two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Pridgen and Mrs. Vera (Michael) Gunn; her most cherished friends, Mr. James, Ms. Irene, Mrs. Mary Hankins and Ms. Barbara Thompson; her twenty-three  grand-children; her thirty great-grand children and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A public visitation will be held, Wednesday, April 27, 2022, from 12:00 p.m. to 12:50 p.m. in the Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551.

Also, a Celebration of Life Service will be held, Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. in the Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551.  Apostle Phyllis Young will officiate and Reverend Dr. Michael A. Johnson will preside.

Interment will follow the Celebration of Life Service in the Pridgen Family Cemetery, 1522 Rag Road, Jason Township, North Carolina.

Wednesday, April 27, 2022, the family members and friends will assemble at Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina at 12:30 p.m. in preparation for the family lineup and the Celebration of Life Service.
