Mr. Willie Andrew Wilkes

In profound sorrow, the Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service join with the Wilkes Family to announce that Mr. Willie Andrew “Mickey” Wilkes of La Grange, North Carolina, at age 56, has completed his earthly journey. 

He was lovingly known by his family members and friends as “Mickey”. 

“Mickey” transitioned from labor to reward on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 in the UNC Lenoir Health Care in Kinston, North Carolina.  

Willie was born in Pitt County, North Carolina on January 27, 1964 to the late Mr. Nevon McDonald and the living Mrs. Thelma Lovitt-Wilkes.

He received his education in the Lenoir County Public School System in La Grange, North Carolina.

During Mr. Willie’s working years, he joined George Parks Masonry Company in Parkstown, North Carolina.  He served as a Head Brick Mason.  

Mr. Wilkes was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Nevon McDonald; his sister, Ms. Janice Wilkes and his brother, Mr. Matthew Wilkes. 

A public viewing will be conducted on Sunday, July 19, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. in the Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551. 

A graveside celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2020, at 11:30 a.m. in the Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, 295 West James Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551.  Dr Michael A. Johnson will officiate.

Also, the interment will follow the celebration of life service on Sunday, July 19, 2020, in the Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, 295 West James Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551.

Brother Willie leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories to his loving wife of the home, Mrs. Bonita Wilkes of La Grange, North Carolina; his daughter, Ashely Davis (Richard Thomas) of Raleigh, North Carolina; his sons, Micheal Wilkes (Jade Batts) and Keyon Ayeni (T’Niqua Artis) of La Grange, North Carolina; his grandsons, Elijah Gillispie and Justin Gillispie of Raleigh, North Carolina, Kai’Je Ayeni, Kai’ire Aynei and Micheal Andrew Wilkes, Jr. of La Grange, North Carolina; his brothers, Milton McDonald of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Jhonnie McDonald of Atlanta, Georgia, William Wilkes and Otis Wilkes both of La Grange, North Carolina; his sisters, Carolyn Wooten of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Delois Lewis of White Oak, North Carolina, Vivian Autry (Jerry Autry) of Hope Mills, North Carolina and Debra Moorhead of Fort Washington, Maryland; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

On Sunday morning, July 19, 2020, the family members and friends will assemble in the parking lot of Britt Funeral Home, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina at 10:30 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.
