In profound sorrow, the Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service join with the Isler and Best families to announce Mr. John Earl Isler of La Grange, North Carolina, age 85, has completed his earthly journey. 

Mr. Isler transitioned from labor to reward on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at the UNC Lenoir Health Care Center in Kinston, North Carolina.  

He was lovingly known by his family members and friends as “Mr. I. Z.”. 

John was born in Lenoir County, North Carolina January 24, 1936 to the late Mr. John Wesley Isler and Mrs. Rosa Lee Exum-Isler.

He received his education in the Lenoir County Public School System and graduated from Frink High School in La Grange, North Carolina.

During his working years, John was employed with Keuffels-Esser Printing Company.  He retired as a distributor for the Washington Post Newspaper. 

Some of Mr. Isler’s hobbies were caring for exotic fishes, gardening and owning beautiful cars.

Brother Isler was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. John Wesley Isler and Mrs. Rosa Lee Exum-Isler; his brothers, June Isler, Fletcher Isler, Richard Isler and Chester Isler; his sister, Alice Dove; his daughters,  Melody Isler, Teresa Isler and Sondra Welden. 

A public viewing will be held Saturday, February 6, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. in the Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551. 

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, February 6, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in the Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551.  Pastor Harold O. Warren will officiate.  

Interment will follow the celebration of life service in the Sutton Family Cemetery, 2731 Hwy 903 South, La Grange, North Carolina 28551.  

Brother Isler leaves to cherish his sweet and loving memory to his wife, Mrs. Lillie Mae Best Isler; his brother, Wilbert Isler; his sister, Catherine Williams; his sons, Adrian Perkins and wife, Sharon and Ron Isler and wife, Carmen; his daughter, Patricia Isler; his grandchildren, Kareem Herring, Aisha Herring, Melahn Hawkins-Isler, Antoine Isler, Montay Isler, Natasha Campbell, Cassandra Perkins and Veronica Perkins; his great grandchildren, Daisha McIlwain, Demarr McIlwain ,  Dillian Smith, Dallis Smith, MyAdriana Finney, Carter Finney-Hawkins, Brooke Finney- Hawkins,  Navaya Thomas,  Nailah Thomas, Carmen Thomas, Caaliyah Thomas and Mariyah Thomas;  and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

On Saturday, February 6, 2021, the family members and friends will assemble at Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina at 9:30 a.m. in preparation for the viewing and the Celebration of Life Service.
