The Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service join with the Haskins and Myrick Families to announce the passing of Mr. Jimmy Haskins of Stantonsburg, North Carolina.  He was lovingly known by his family members and friends as “Jimmy.”

Mr. Jimmy Haskins, age 60 transitioned from labor to reward on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at the UNC Health Care Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

He was born in Wilson County, North Carolina on August 7, 1959 to the Mr. Troy Reid and Mrs. Lavonne Haskins.   

Jimmy received his education in the Wilson County Public School System.  He graduated from Ralph L. Fike High School in Wilson, North Carolina.

During Mr. Haskins’ working years, he served as a machine operator for the Alliance One International Tobacco Company for a number of years.

On his Christian journey, Brother Haskins became a member of Wilson Chapel Freewill Baptist Church where he was baptized at an early age.

He sang in the C. C. Thomas Joybells Choir, served on the Junior Usher Board and was a NEA Sunday School Delegate.

Years later, he moved his membership to Saint Luke Freewill Baptist Church in Stantonsburg, North Carolina under the leadership of Bishop Willie Thomas.

Brother Haskins was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. Damp Haskins, Sr. and Mrs. Sudie B. Haskins, Mr. Elijah Reid and Mrs. Ida H. Reid.

A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2020, at 1:30 p.m. in the Wilson Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, 513 East Barnes Street, Wilson, North Carolina 27893.  Elder Isaac Barnes will officiate. 

Also, a public viewing will be conducted on Saturday, March 21, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Saint Luke Freewill Baptist Church, 311 Church Street, Stantonsburg, North Carolina 27883.  The family will be present from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. to receive other family members and friends. 

Interment will follow the celebration of life service on Sunday, March 22, 2020, in the Rest Haven Cemetery, 1717 Lane Street, Extension, Wilson, North Carolina 27893. 

Brother Jimmy leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories to his mother of the home, Mrs. Lavonne Myrick of Stantonsburg, NC; his father, Mr. Troy Reid of Wilson, NC; his son, Mr. Jimmy Antwan Dingle of Wilson, NC; his daughter, Mrs. Shemekia Hayes of  Philadelphia, PA;  his sisters, Mrs. Mildred Diane Spencer of Rex, NC, Mrs. Judy Haskins-Parker and husband, Dwayne of Durham, NC and Mrs. Una West of Fayetteville, NC; his aunts, Mrs. Gail Patterson and husband, James of Saratoga NC, Mrs. Dorothy Foster and husband, James of Silver Spring , MD, Mrs. Ruby Gilliam of Wilson, NC, Mrs. Carolyn Gilliam of Knightdale, NC and Mrs. Kate Whitley of  Wilson, NC;  his uncle, Mr. Walter Haskins; his god sister, Mrs. Shelia Joyner; his godchildren, Jennifer Hayes, Antione Hayes, Malik Dingle and Jennifer Dingle; his god granddaughter,  Jessica Hayes; his special cousins, Mr. Stanley Shipman, Mr. Steve Robinson, Mr. Eric Coley, Mrs. Sandra Diggins and Mrs. Diane Kirby; his three special ladies that held a piece of his heart, Mrs. Patricia Dingle, Mrs. Nancy Artis, and Mrs. Frances Hayes; his special neighbors, Mrs. Helen Macky, Mrs. Cleo Ward and Mrs. Shirley Horne; a host of nieces, nephews, a plethora of loving family members and a village of caring friends.

On Sunday, March 22, 2020, the family members and friends will assemble at the residence of Mrs. Lavonne Myrick, 608 Hemphill Street, Stantonsburg, North Carolina at 12:00 p.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.
