In profound sorrow, the Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service join with the Edwards, Britt, West, Best  and Moore families to announce Mr. Guilford Artie Moore of La Grange, North Carolina, age 77, has completed his earthly journey. 

Mr. Moore transitioned from labor to reward Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, North Carolina.  He was lovingly known by his family members and friends as “Guilford”. 

Guilford was born in Lenoir County, North Carolina September 1, 1943 to the late Mr. Elymous Moore, Sr. and Mrs. Verna West-Moore.

He received some of his education in the Lenoir County Public School System in La Grange, North Carolina.

During Brother Guilford’s spiritual walk in life, he was a faithful member of Post Oak Freewill Baptist Church in Kinston, North Carolina.

During his working years, Guilford was employed with Sleepy Creek Turkey Hatchery and he retired after 36 years of dedicated service.  

Brother Guilford was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Elymous Moore, Sr. and Mrs. Verna West-Moore; three sisters, Mrs. Ruby Gardner, Mrs. AnnieBell Patrick, and Mrs. Gwendolyn Smith; four brothers, Mr. Elymous Moore Jr., Mr. William Earl Moore, Mr. Alexander Moore and Mr. Alonza Henry Moore.

A special public viewing will be held Friday, February 26, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551. 

A second public viewing will be held Saturday, February 27, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. in the Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551. 

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, February 27, 2021, at 12:00 p.m. in the Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551.  Pastor Charlie Howell, Jr. will officiate.  

Interment will follow the celebration of life service in the Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, 295 West James Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551.  

Brother Guilford leaves to cherish his sweet and loving memories to his wife, Mrs. Phyllis Best Moore of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Laletta Kaye Applewhite of Kinston, North Carolina,  Mrs. LaTonya Bielarski and husband, Darrick, of Orange Park, Florida and Mrs. Angelia Clay and husband, Antonio, of Winterville, North Carolina; grandchildren, Aerial, Derrick, Jacob, JaRan, Shaniah, Darrick B., Daikwon, Tahjiana and Kobe; brothers-in-law, Mr. John Best and wife, Annie, Mr. Marion Best and wife, Margie, Mr. Marvin Best and wife, Frances, all of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Mr. Frank Gardner of La Grange, North Carolina and Mr. CalRoger Patrick of Kinston, North Carolina; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Geraldine Moore, Mrs. Doris Moore, Mrs. Letha Howell all of Kinston, North Carolina, Mrs. Sylvia Shine of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Mrs. Janice Best of Hookerton, North Carolina and Mrs. Mary Best of Goldsboro, North Carolina; his aunt-in-law, Mrs. Elnora Britt Grantham of Goldsboro, North Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, other in-laws and friends.

Saturday, February 27, 2021, the family members and friends will assemble at Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina at 10:30 a.m. in preparation for the viewing and the Celebration of Life Service.
