In profound sorrow, the Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service join with the Simmons, Pitts and Wooten families to announce Mr. Ezra Lee “Head” Wooten of La Grange, North Carolina, age 64, has completed his earthly journey.

Mr. Wooten transitioned from labor to reward Friday, April 8, 2022 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, North Carolina.  He was lovingly known by his family members and friends as “Head, ‘E’ and East Coast”.

Ezra was born in Lenoir County, North Carolina, April 13, 1957, to the living Mr. Lendell Wooten, Sr. and the late Mrs. Sarah Simmons-Wooten.

He received his education in the Lenoir County Public School System.

During Mr. Wooten’s working years, he worked as a Caregiver Technician for O’Berry Training School in Goldsboro, North Carolina.

Brother Ezra loved watching his favorite football team, the Carolina Panthers, and taking pictures with his family members and friends.  Also, he enjoyed family oriented activities such as cookouts, seeing and being around his family members and friends.  He was proud of his family members and his friends. 

Brother Ezra was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Sarah Simmons-Wooten; his son, Mr. Jamonte Wooten; his brothers, Mr. Desi Arnaz Wooten, Mr. Lendell Wooten, Jr. and Mr. Reginald Dean Wooten; his sisters-in-love, Mrs. Charlotte Taylor Wooten and Mrs. Brenda Wooten.

A public visitation will be held Tuesday, April 12, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551.

A Graveside Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the La Grange Memorial Cemetery, 295 West King Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551.  Elder Leo Dean, Pastor, will officiate.

Also, Interment will follow the Celebration of Life Service in the La Grange Memorial Cemetery, 295 West King Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551.

Brother Ezra leaves to cherish his sweet and loving memories to his father, Mr. Lendell Wooten, Sr. of La Grange, North Carolina; his sister, Mrs. Dell Roslyn Wooten-Pitts and husband, Mr. Marvin of Clinton, Maryland; his brother, Mr. Victor Alonzo Wooten and wife, Mrs. Valerie of La Grange, North Carolina; his aunts, Mrs. Barbara Simmons Kelly of Manhattan, New York, Mrs. Delores Simmons of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Mrs. Elizabeth Barber of Bladensburg, Maryland, Mrs. Julia Faye Wooten and Mrs. Novella Wooten both of La Grange, North Carolina; his uncles, Mr. McLean Simmons of Goldsboro, North Carolina and Mr. Murthis Wooten of La Grange, North Carolina; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and his very special dedicated  young ladies, Ms. Jalesa Carter and Ms. Kyarri King.

Wednesday, April 13, 2022, the family members and friends will assemble in the La Grange Memorial Cemetery, 295 West King Street, La Grange, North Carolina at 10:40 a.m. in preparation for the family lineup and the Celebration of Life Service.
