In profound sorrow, the Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service join with the Johnson and Bethea families to announce Mother Pauline Lindsey Bethea Johnson, age 79, of New Bern, North Carolina and formerly of La Grange, North Carolina has completed her earthly journey. 

Mother Johnson was lovingly known by her family members and friends as “Honey,” “Beautiful,” “Granny,” “Mama,” “Grandma,” “Mema,” and “Mother Johnson”. 

Mother Johnson transitioned from labor to reward, December 24, 2022,  at Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern, North Carolina. 

Mother Johnson was born in Robeson County, North Carolina, May 28, 1943, to the late Mr. Paul Bethea and Mrs. Daisy Lee-Bethea.

She received some of her education in the Robeson County Public School System in Lumberton, North Carolina. 

As a young lady, Mother Johnson met, dated and married the love of her life, Mr. Joe Preston Johnson.  The Lord blessed and gave their marriage 63 years of love and enjoyment.

During her employment years, Mrs. Johnson served as a Health Care Technician for Howell’s Child Care Center, Incorporation in La Grange, North Carolina. 

Mother Johnson served God faithfully as an active member of the Tabernacle of Prayer for All People in Goldsboro, North Carolina under the leadership of Pastor Douglas Sutton.

Mother Johnson was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Paul Bethea and Mrs. Daisy Lee Bethea; her brothers, Mr. Edward Bethea, Mr. William Paul “Mack” Bethea and her son, Mr. Joe Allen Johnson.

A public visitation will be held Sunday, January 1, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 1:50 p.m. in the Tabernacle of Prayer for All People, 1005 South John Street, Goldsboro, North Carolina 27530. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, January 1, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the Tabernacle of Prayer for All People, 1005 South John Street, Goldsboro, North Carolina 27530.  Pastor Douglas Sutton will officiate. 

Interment will follow the Celebration of Life Service in La Grange Cemetery, 195 West James Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551.

Mother Johnson leaves to cherish her precious memories to her husband, of 63 years and of the home, Mr. Joe Preston Johnson, Sr.; her sister, Mrs. Bertha Colson; her sons, Mr. Randy (Delba) Johnson, Minster Joe (Noreen) Johnson, Jr., Mr. Willie Edward (Tabitha) Johnson and  Mr. Paul Johnson;  her daughters, Minister Wanda Bynum, Mrs. Regina (Walter) Smith and Mrs. Leshinda Faison; her grandchildren, Czeponis Johnson, Candace Marzan, Brandon (Taylar) Johnson, Ashton Johnson, Deuremus Johnson, Gregory Smith, Imari Smith, Demonte’ Graham, Blessen Faison, Asya Johnson, Delogan Johnson, Camille Johnson, Shannon Morgan and Yasmeen Oliver; her great-grandchildren, Khyrihan Johnson, Breannah Joyner, Cole Johnson, Jaziri Johnson and Nasir Fields; her special cousin, Willie James; her nephew, James Johnson and a host of other relatives and friends.

Sunday, January 1, 2023, the family members and friends will assemble at the Tabernacle of Prayer for All People, 1005 South John Street, Goldsboro, North Carolina 27530, at 12:30 p.m., in preparation for the Family line-up and the procession into the Church. 

Floral arrangements may be delivered to Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina beginning Saturday morning, December 31, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
