In profound sorrow, the Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service join with the Edwards, Britt and Grantham families to announce Mother Elnora Britt Grantham, age 93, of Goldsboro, North Carolina has completed her earthly journey. 

She was lovingly known by her family members and friends as “Elnora” and “Mother Grantham”. 

Mother Grantham transitioned from labor to reward, October 27, 2022, at her residence in Goldsboro, North Carolina. 

Mother Grantham was born in Wayne County, North Carolina, September 14, 1929, to the late Mr. Henry Britt and Mrs. Johnnie Ann Edwards-Britt.

Elnora received her education in the Wayne County Public School System.  She graduated in the Class of 1948 at Central High School in Goldsboro, North Carolina.

 Mrs. Grantham continued her education by attending Wayne County Community College.  She received a Certificate in Computer Science.

During her employment years, Mrs. Grantham served as an Insurance Agent for Hamilton Funeral Home in Goldsboro, North Carolina.  Later, she was promoted to Office Manager of the Insurance Department.

Mother Grantham served God faithfully as an active member of Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Goldsboro, North Carolina.  She sang in the Senior Choir under the leadership of the late Reverend W. C. Cotton.

Later on, she moved her membership to the Bible Faith Missionary Baptist Church and served faithfully for many years under the leadership of Reverend Jimmy L. Mumford.

Mother Grantham served as the Financial Secretary for the Bear Creek Missionary Baptist Association Headquarters for 38 years.

Mother Grantham was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Henry Britt and Mrs. Johnnie Ann Edwards-Britt; her husband, Deacon Freddie Grantham, Jr.; her sisters, Mrs. Mabel Brown, Mrs. Hattie Bryant, Mrs. Sallie McClarin, Mrs. Missoura Best and Mrs. Nannie Best; her brothers, Mr. Othanel Britt, Mr. Ecclesiastes Britt, Mr. Clarence Britt and Mr. Henry Britt, Jr.

A public visitation will be held Monday, October 31, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. in the Bible Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 1807 South Slocumb Street, Goldsboro, North Carolina 27530. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, October 31, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the Bible Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 1807 South Slocumb Street, Goldsboro, North Carolina 27530.    Reverend Jimmy L. Mumford will officiate. 

Interment will follow the Celebration of Life Service in the Augusta Chapel Church Cemetery, 599 Durham Lake Road, Dudley, North Carolina 28333.

Mother Grantham leaves to cherish her sweet and precious memories to her daughter, Mrs. LaVerna Grantham Parker of Greenville, North Carolina; her grandson, Mr. Kelly Parker of Greenville, North Carolina; her granddaughter, Ms. Andrea R. Parker of Baltimore, Maryland; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Monday, October 31, 2022, the family members and friends will assemble at the residence of Mother Elnora Grantham, 1600 Tampa Street, Goldsboro, North Carolina 27534, at 9:00 a.m., in preparation for the funeral procession to the Bible Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Goldsboro, North Carolina.

Floral arrangements may be delivered to Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina beginning Saturday morning, October 29, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
