In profound sorrow, the Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service join with the White, Holloway, Hobbs, Smith, Coore, Adams and McDonald families to announce Dr. Annie Adams McDonald, of Jonesboro, Georgia, age 89, has completed her earthly journey. 

She was lovingly known by her family members and friends as “Boot”. 

Dr. McDonald transitioned from labor to reward, February 15, 2022 at Piedmont Henry Hospital in Stockbridge, Georgia. 

Annie was born in Wayne County, North Carolina, October 5, 1932 to the late Mr. Lemiah Adams and Mrs. Julia Coore-Adams.

She received her early education in the Wayne County Public School System.  Annie graduated from Central High School under the leadership of Mr. W. M. Reinhart, Principal.

After graduating from high school, Annie earned and was awarded a scholarship to attend Livingston College in Salisbury, North Carolina.

After graduating from Livingston College, she earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in chemistry.  Also, she pledged and became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) Sorority.

Dr. McDonald earned a Master’s degree June, 1969 and a Doctoral degree June, 1974, both from New York University (NYU).

Dr. McDonald was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Lemiah Adams and Mrs. Julia Coore-Adams; her beloved son, Mr. Thomas McDonald, III; her siblings, Mrs. Amelia Adams Jones, Mr. Robert Adams, Mr. Joseph Adams and Mr. Billy Adams, Sr.

A public visitation will be held Monday, February 21, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. in the Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551. 

Also, a Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, February 21, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. in the Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551.  

Interment will follow the Celebration of Life Service in the Old Mill Cemetery, 3718 Central Heights Road, Goldsboro, North Carolina 27534.

Dr. McDonald leaves to cherish her loving and precious memories to her siblings, Mrs. Willie Adams Loftin and husband, Leonza of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Mr. Winston Adams of La Grange, North Carolina, Mr. Marvin Adams and Mrs. Jewel Braswell both of Ellenwood, Georgia and Mrs. Pamela Adams Hudson and husband, Herbert of Cypress, Texas; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Monday, February 21, 2022, the family members and friends will assemble at the Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551 at 10:40 a.m. in preparation for the line-up and the Celebration of Life Service.
