In profound sorrow, the Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service join with the Sheppard Family to announce that Mrs. Hattie Carter Sheppard of Jason, North Carolina, age 52, has completed her earthly journey. She was lovingly known by her family members and friends as “Hat.”
Mrs. Sheppard transitioned from labor to reward on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at UNC Lenoir Health Care Center in Kinston, North Carolina.
She was born in Wayne County, North Carolina on February 8, 1966 to the late Mr. Willie Carter, Jr. and the Ms. Emma Jean Davis.
Hattie received her education in the Wayne County public school system.
Mrs. Sheppard was a proud member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church. She served and worshipped under the leadership of her Pastor, Dr. Michael Johnson.
A celebration of life service will be conducted on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ebenezer Baptist Church, 209 Carey Street, La Grange, North Carolina 28551. Dr. Michael Johnson will officiate.
Interment will follow the celebration of life service in the Jerusalem Church Cemetery, 395 Jerusalem Church Road, Seven Springs, North Carolina, 28578.
Also, a public viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina.

On Thursday, September 20, 2018, the family members and friends will assemble at the residence of Mr. Jimmy Sheppard, 6930 Hwy 903 South, La Grange, North Carolina at 9:30 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.
