Mrs. Gertrude Mae (Ives) Jenkins

 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.

In profound sorrow, the Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service join with the Jenkins Family to announce that Mrs. Gertrude Mae Ives Jenkins, age 90, of La Grange, North Carolina, has completed her earthly journey.

She was lovingly known by her family members and friends as “Gertie Mae.”

Mrs. Jenkins transitioned from labor to reward on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at her residence in La Grange, North Carolina.

She was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on September 12, 1928 to the late Mr. John Ives and Mrs. Myrtle Lee Ives.

Gertrude received her education in the Washtenaw County, Michigan Public School System.

She enjoyed and loved her family members and friends.

Mrs. Jenkins was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Withrow “Curly” Jenkins; her son, Mr. David Jenkins; her daughter, Mrs. Anita Justus; her brothers, Mr. James Ives and Master Bobby Ives; her sisters, Mrs. Margaret Fields and Mrs. Goldie Loomis.

The family will be traveling to Ohio for the celebration of life service.  The date and time of Mrs. Jenkins’ service will be announced at a later date. 

She leaves to cherish her loving and precious memories to her sons, Mr. Larry Jenkins of Columbus, Ohio and Mr. Darin Jenkins and wife, Robin of La Grange, North Carolina; her daughters, Mrs. Donna Hunt of La Grange, North Carolina, Mrs. Cathy Gill and husband, John of Columbus, Ohio and Diane Jenkins and husband, Robbie of Pikeville, North Carolina; her brother, Mr. John Ives; her sister, Mrs. Martha Meade; a host of Grandchildren; a host of Great Grandchildren; a host of Great-Great Grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family takes this opportunity to thank the medical professionals, the family members, the friends, and anyone who performed any acts of kindness toward the Jenkins family during their bereavement.
