Mr. James Odis Parks

 In profound sorrow, the Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service join with the Parks Family to announce that Mr. James Odis Parks of La Grange, North Carolina, age 67, has completed his earthly journey.  He was lovingly known by his family members and friends as “Red” and “Big O.” 

Mr. Parks transitioned from labor to reward on Sunday, September 16, 2018, at his residence in La Grange, North Carolina.  

He was born in Lenoir County, North Carolina on May 12, 1951 to the late Mr. Johnnie Parks, Sr. and Mrs. Mable Wooten Parks.

He received his education in the Lenoir County Public School System. 

James served his country by enlisting into the United States Army.  He was honorably separated from service on July 9, 1973. 

During James’ working years, he served as a Machine Operator for over 30 years at the DuPont Manufacturing Company.

A celebration of life service will be conducted on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. in the Victory and Dominion World Outreach Center, 1438 US 258 Highway, Snow Hill, North Carolina 28580.  Apostle Zebedee Sheppard will officiate. 

Interment will follow the celebration of life service in the PineLawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 4488 US 70-East Highway, Kinston, North Carolina 28504.

Also, a public viewing will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. in the Victory and Dominion World Outreach Center, 1438 US 258 Highway, Snow Hill, North Carolina 28580.

Mr. James leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories to his special friend, Linda Rose Gray Parks of Kinston, NC; his son, Richie Hayven Parks and wife, Latasha Parks of Kinston, NC; his stepdaughter, Tara Kashawn Gray-Coley and husband, Chris of Goldsboro, NC; his grandchildren, Destanie Davis of Greensboro, NC, Tyana Parks and Riyan Parks both of Kinston, NC; his sisters, Sally Taylor, Maybelene Parks both of La Grange, NC, Beulah Best of Boston, Massachusetts and Gladys Parks of Forestville, MD; his brothers, Johnnie  Parks, Jr. of La Grange, NC, Clarence Parks  and wife, Barbara of La Grange, NC,
Harold Parks and wife, Dawn of La Grange, NC, Wilbert Parks  and wife, Jackie of Snow Hill, NC, Donald Parks of La Grange, NC; a host of nieces, nephews,  cousins other relatives and friends.

On Friday, September 21, 2018, the family members and friends will assemble at the residence of Mr. James Odis Parks, 5770 Boldt Drive, La Grange, North Carolina at 9:30 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.
