In profound sorrow, the Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service join with the Barnes Family to announce that Mr. Elliott Dwayne Barnes of Wilson, North Carolina, age 34, has completed his earthly journey.  He was lovingly known by his family members and friends as “PaPa.” 

Mr. Barnes transitioned from labor to reward on Saturday, September 1, 2018 in Wilson, North Carolina.  

He was born in Wilson County, North Carolina on July 31, 1984 to Mr. James Best and Ms. Patricia Barnes. 

He received his education in the Wilson County public school system. 

            Not only was Elliott, a devoted and loving father, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, he was a hero, also.  He sacrificed his life to save the life of his dear mother and cousin. 

Elliott was preceded in death by his brothers, Eric McKinley Barnes and Elliott Best; his grandmother, Ollie Mae Barnes; his aunts, Virginia Ann Barnes and Bernice Best Floyd; his uncle, Johnny Best; and tragically his uncle, Redmond Junior Barnes, who transitioned from labor to reward on Saturday, September 1, 2018, also; his special friend, Brandon Jones.

A celebration of life service will be conducted on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. in the Wilson Chapel Baptist Church, 513 East Barnes Street, Wilson, North Carolina 27893.  Minister Angier Harris will officiate. 

Interment will follow the celebration of life service in the Hamilton Burial Gardens, 1603 Lane Street Extension, Wilson, North Carolina, 27893.

Also, a public viewing will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. in the Wilson Chapel Baptist Church, 513 East Barnes Street, Wilson, North Carolina

Elliott leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories to his two daughters, Alexis Olivia Crabtree and Alonna Beachan both of Wilson, NC; his mother, Patricia Ann Barnes of the home; his father, James Best, Sr. of Wilson, NC; his four sisters, Wendy Michelle Barnes Williams of the home, Denise Best Johnson (Keith) of Wilson, NC, Sylvia Johnson of Wilson, NC and Tonia Best of Wilson, NC; his two brothers, Donell Best of Wilson, NC and James Best, Jr. of Wilson, NC; his two uncles, Jimmy Best (Joann) of Wilson, NC and Percy Best (Brenda) of Wilson, NC; his aunt, Lorraine Best Mitchell (Roy) of Wilson, NC; his niece, Emonie Jones of  Wilson, NC; his special cousin, Antonio Devon Barnes of Wilson, NC; his special friend, Matt Jones of Wilson, NC; a host of great aunts, great uncles, cousins and friends.

On Saturday, September 15, 2018, the family members and friends will assemble at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Bryant of 610 Hyatt Drive, Wilson, North Carolina at 10:00 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.
