Mr. John Wesley Johnson, Jr.

Mr. John Wesley Johnson, Jr., 50, lovingly known by his family and friends as "Jay," 650 Curlew Circle, Sumter, South Carolina, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2017 in La Grange, North Carolina.

“Jay” was born in Washington, DC on August 11, 1967 to the late Mr. John Johnson, Sr. and the living, Mrs. Laura Hines-Johnson.

John was educated in the Lenoir County public School system.

After graduation, Jay enlisted into the United States Army.  He served his country honorably and John received numerous medals and Commendations.

After 25 years of service, John retired with the rank of Master Sergeant (MSgt)

John loved his family, his friends and he loved his church, Liberty Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, November 18, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. in the Liberty Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 2704 NC 903 Highway, South, La Grange, North Carolina.  Pastor Harold O. Warren will officiate.

Interment will follow in the La Grange Memorial Park Cemetery, 295 West James Street, La Grange, North Carolina.

Also, a public viewing will be held on Friday, November 17, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina with the family present from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Mr. Johnson, Jr. leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories to his daughter, Lauren Johnson of Athens, GA; his son, Christian Jones of Fredericksburg, VA; his mother, Laura A. Johnson of LaGrange, NC; his brother, Michael D. Johnson and wife, Tara of Goldsboro, NC; his two sisters, Stacy Johnson and Angela D. Jones and husband, Garry both of LaGrange, NC; his special friend, Sabrina Northcut of Sumter, SC;  his three aunts, Daisy M. Johnson, Betty M. Bynum and husband, Tiny of LaGrange, NC and Neva Miller of Washington, DC;  a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

On Saturday, November 18, 2017, the family members and friends will assemble at the residence of Mrs. Laura Johnson, of308 West Queen Street, La Grange, North Carolina at 11:45 p.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.
