Mr. Jimmy "Gator" Richardson

July 5, 1940 ~ September 16, 2017 (age 77) 77 Years Old

Mr. Jimmy Richardson, age 77, lovingly known by his family members and friends as “Gator” of 109 Gary Court, Rocky Mount, North Carolina passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at his residence.

Jimmy was born in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, on July 5, 1940 to the late Mr. Henry Richardson and Mrs. Queen Brown-Richardson. 

Mr. Richardson was preceded in death by his parents and a stepchild, DuVaughn Ganeous.

Brother Richardson was a member of Wilson Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Wilson, North Carolina under the leadership of Bishop Robert L. Gorham.

During “Mr. Gator’s” working years, he worked with and retired from the METRO Transit System in Washington, DC.

Funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. in the Wilson Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 513 East Barnes Street, Wilson, NC.  Bishop Robert L. Gorham will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Rest Haven Cemetery, 1600 Lane Street, Extension, Wilson, NC.

Also, a public viewing will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. in the Wilson Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 513 East Barnes Street, Wilson, NC.

Brother Richardson leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories to his devoted wife, Mrs. Catherine M. Richardson of the home; his daughter, Diane Jett and husband, David, of Charlotte, NC; his stepchildren, Evangelist Faye Wilson and husband, Deacon Jimmy, of Rocky Mount, NC, Catherine Jackson, and husband, Timothy, of Upper Marlboro, MD, Evangelist Beaudale Fleming and husband, Deacon Alfonza, of Rocky Mount, NC, Andre’ Ganeous of Indiana, Marcus Ganeous and wife, Mary, of Rockville, MD, Greta Ganeous and husband, Michael, of Temple Hills, MD, Felicia Pulley and husband, McKinley, of Rocky Mount, NC; his stepdaughter-in-law, Tameka Ganeous of Takoma Park, MD; his god-daughter, Esperanza Butler and husband, WC, of Elizabethtown, NC;  his brother, William H. Richardson of Washington, DC; his sister, Velvet Wigfall of Charlotte, NC; his special niece, Clara Young and husband, Walter, of Charlotte, NC; his special nephew and Godson, Jimmy Huntley of Charlotte, NC; his special cousin, Ruby Dean and husband, Roger, of Charlotte, NC; a host of grandchildren,  great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.  

On Saturday, September 23, 2017, the family members and friends will assemble at the residence of Mrs. Catherine M. Richardson, 109 Gary Court, Rocky Mount, North Carolina at 11:30 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.

Flowers may be sent to Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, NC, beginning on Friday, September 22, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
