Mr. Earl Sutton

Mr. Earl Sutton, age 90, lovingly known by his family members and friends as “Pop” of La Grange, North Carolina transitioned from labor to reward on Monday, February 19, 2018 at the UNC Lenoir Health Care Center in Kinston, North Carolina.

Earl was born in Wayne County, North Carolina on April 6, 1927 to the late Mr. Jim Sutton and Mrs. Racheal Faison-Sutton.

He grew up in Lenoir and Wayne Counties.   He was educated in the Lenoir County public school system.

During Mr. Earl’s working years, he met and dated Ms. Virginia Langston.  In 1944, they married and to this union, eight children were born.

Later in life, Mr.Sutton farmed in Jones and Lenoir Counties until his retirement.

Mr. Sutton was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Virginia Langston-Sutton; his two sons, Leonard Earl Sutton and Alexander Sutton.

Funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at 12:00 p.m. in the Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina.  Apostle Bobby L. Kittrell will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Sutton Family Cemetery, 2705 Hwy 903 North, La Grange, North Carolina 28551.

A public viewing will be held on Friday, February 23, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 East Washington Street, La Grange, North Carolina with the family present from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Mr. Sutton leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories to his children, L. H. Sutton, Carolyn Southerland, Keith Sutton and wife, Maria, Rose Marie Sutton and Donald Sutton all of La Grange, North Carolina, and Jimmy Sutton and wife, Gloria, of Snow Hill, North Carolina; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

On Saturday, February 24, 2018, the family members and friends will assemble at the residence of Mr. Earl Sutton of 108 East King Street, Apartment D, La Grange, North Carolina at 10:45 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.
